Privacy policy
Effective November 1, 2026
WriteGood is a Chrome extension that drafts, checks, and rewrites text in web page fields. This policy explains what it sends, who processes it, and what is kept.
The short version
- WriteGood sends text only when you click Check, Rewrite, or Draft.
- The text goes to an AI model, Claude Haiku 5.5, to write the response. WriteGood's servers don't store or log it.
- None of the companies that process the text train AI models on it.
- WriteGood stores your Google account's basic profile, your settings, and how many times you used each feature each day. Nothing else.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no sale of data.
What WriteGood sends, and when
Nothing leaves the page until you click an action in the WriteGood panel. Each click sends one request:
- Check: the text in the field, up to 5,000 characters.
- Rewrite: the text you selected in the field, or the whole field if nothing is selected.
- Draft: the site's address (for example, mail.google.com), the page title, the field's label, the conversation or post near the field (up to 12,000 characters), any text you selected on the page, any instruction you typed, and any text already in the field. The panel shows exactly what will be sent before you click.
Each request also includes your writing settings: English dialect, tone, which kinds of mistakes to check, the Oxford comma preference, and your personal dictionary.
WriteGood never runs on password fields or on fields for card numbers or one-time codes. It doesn't read content inside embedded frames from other sites, and it doesn't collect your browsing history.
Who processes the text
Requests go to WriteGood's backend on Supabase, which passes the text to OpenRouter. OpenRouter sends it to one of the companies that run Claude Haiku 5.5, a model made by Anthropic, and returns the response. OpenRouter picks the company for each request. Their published terms, as of November 1, 2026:
| Company | How long it keeps the text | Trains models on it |
|---|---|---|
| OpenRouter | Not kept. WriteGood keeps OpenRouter's prompt logging off. | No |
| Anthropic, including Claude Platform on AWS and Claude in Microsoft Foundry | Deleted within 30 days. Kept up to 2 years if Anthropic's automated safety systems flag it. | No |
| Google Vertex AI | Not kept (listed by OpenRouter as zero data retention) | No |
| Amazon Bedrock | Not kept (listed by OpenRouter as zero data retention) | No |
OpenRouter keeps request metadata, such as token counts and response times, without the text. See the OpenRouter privacy policy and Anthropic privacy policy.
What WriteGood stores
- Your account. You sign in with Google. WriteGood receives your email address, name, and profile picture link from Google, and uses them only to identify your account.
- Your settings. Dialect, tone, correction preferences, personal dictionary, and the sites where you've turned WriteGood off, so they follow you to other computers.
- Daily usage counts. How many checks, rewrites, and drafts you used each day, to enforce daily limits.
- Request logs. For each request: your account ID, the action, token counts, response time, and whether it succeeded. Never the text.
This data is stored with Supabase, which hosts WriteGood's database, sign-in, and backend. Supabase may also keep standard request logs, such as IP address, time, and status, for a limited period to run its service.
In your browser, the extension keeps your sign-in session and a copy of your settings in Chrome's extension storage. Signing out removes the session, and uninstalling the extension removes both.
What WriteGood doesn't do
- It doesn't sell, rent, or share your data, except with the processors named above.
- It doesn't use your data for advertising or to decide creditworthiness.
- It doesn't use analytics, tracking pixels, or cookies, on this website or in the extension.
- No person at WriteGood reads the text you send.
WriteGood's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, and its use of data from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Deleting your data
Email writegood@j8ch.com from the address you sign in with to delete your account. That deletes your account, settings, and usage counts within 30 days. Request logs hold only your account ID and expire with Supabase's log retention.
Children
WriteGood isn't meant for children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new effective date. A change to the AI model or the companies that process your text is listed here before the extension starts using it.
